  • We can help you identify the 10-digit Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) number for your goods so you can determine if antidumping and countervailing duties apply to you.

How Antidumping and Countervailing Duties Affect Your Import Costs

Antidumping and countervailing duties are both protectionary measures that offset the value of dumping or subsidization, which levels the playing field for domestic US industry. That said, they have their differences.

  • Antidumping: This duty is used to raise the price of a foreign good that’s sold below normal value, or the value the merchandise would be sold by the foreign producer in their domestic market. AD duties are company specific.
  • Countervailing: This duty is used to raise the prices of foreign goods made by foreign manufacturers that have received subsidies from their government, which enables them to sell cheaper goods than US manufacturers. CVDs are country specific

CBP enforces implementation of both duty types by collecting payment for each. Our Licensed Customs Brokers know CBP regulations thoroughly. They’ll use this knowledge to help you with paying your antidumping and countervailing duties.

What AD/CVD Will Cost You

Antidumping and countervailing duties can raise the cost of your imports up to 500%. If you don’t pay these duties when you’re supposed to, you could face serious fines. Long story short, AD and CVDs cost you a lot of money when you import.

Our Licensed Customs Brokers will use their expertise to show you how to pay your antidumping and countervailing duties on time.

Find Out If Antidumping and Countervailing Duties Apply To You

The most direct way to find out if your goods are subject to antidumping or countervailing duties is by checking the 10-digit HTS code for your goods.

There are numerous resources you can use to determine if your goods are subject to antidumping and countervailing duties.

This includes:

  • Federal Register notices from the Department of Commerce
  • Department of Commerce Instructions to CBP located in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • The International Trade Administration (ITA)
  • Scope rulings from the Department of Commerce
  • Import Specialists at the Center of Excellence and Expertise
  • Consulting all investigation from the United States International Trade Commission

While each of these resources are helpful, navigating each one can be difficult. Having the assistance of a Licensed Customs Broker will make it easier for you to find out if your goods are subject to AD and CVDs.
